Proudly hand-made!
All of our miniatures are sculpted by hand using traditional methods, no digital processes are used in their production. The epoxy and polymer clay sculptures are carefully mastered and cast using silicone and vulcanised rubber moulds by expert mouldmakers. All moulding and casting is done by small businesses here in the UK, mostly within a short drive of Oakbound HQ!
Our metal miniatures contain a small amount of lead which can be harmful if chewed or swallowed. They may also feature sharp points and small pieces which can be a choking hazard. For this reason they are not suitable for children under the age of 14 years.
Wherever possible we use metal for casting our miniatures. There are times where the size and weight of pewter miniatures would make them difficult to assemble and handle and for these figures we use polyester resin. Polyester resin miniatures require washing with soapy water before painting to dislodge any residue of mould release which may remain on the surface. Sometimes resin components come out the mould bent. They can be easily straightened (or bent in other ways if you prefer) by holding them briefly in steam or hot water.
All our miniatures are supplied unpainted. If you would prefer not to paint your miniatures yourself we can recommend commission painters who can undertake this at a very reasonable price. In most cases we try to create single-piece miniatures which do not require assembly, but sometimes it is necessary to cast a model in several pieces. They can be assembled using superglue. Our miniatures are supplied with separate bases appropriate to our own game systems.
